The original core of the estate “Gracciano della Seta” dates back to the early 19th century. Today, the winery covers an area of about 70 hectares, 20 of which are vineyards, around the ancient Villa Svetoni (which owes its name to the ancestors of the current owners) and the beautiful Italian-style garden. The loamy soil gives life to one of the finest and most prestigious crus in the territory of Montepulciano (awarded with a major prize at the international exhibition of Turin, in 1864). In compliance with the registered product specification for Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, among the mainly used varieties, stands a high percentage of Prugnolo Gentile (the local clone of Sangiovese); the remainder consists of small amounts of other varieties of red grapes. The winery pursues a philosophy based on the utmost respect for the local environment, without any use of herbicides or chemical fertilizers, and the interventions carried out on the grapes and the wine are highly respectful of the raw material.
