The farm “La Braccesca”, owned by the illustrious Antinori family since 1990, covers a total area of about 508 hectares, divided into two parts: one, of about 366 hectares (233 of which cultivated with vineyards), is located on the border between the municipalities of Montepulciano and Cortona; the other one, of about 142 hectares (103 of which cultivated with vineyards), is located in the territory of Montepulciano, in the areas of Cervognano, Gracciano and Santa Pia. The philosophy of the farm consists of a successful combination of respect for the local tradition, and constant research aiming at improving the quality of the finished product. The extreme care taken in the selection process of the grapes made it possible, in 1990, the production of the first Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, to which were subsequently added Vino Nobile di Montepulciano cru “Vigneto Santa Pia” (2001, today “Riserva”), and Rosso di Montepulciano “Sabazio” (1991). In addition, with the harvest of the year 2000, were also introduced Cortona DOC “Bramasole” (the most important of the two Syrahs, a vine characteristic of the Cortona’s area, produced 100% by La Braccesca) and, since 2006, Cortona DOC Syrah “Achelo”.
