VALDICHIANA SENESE IN LONELY PLANET’S “BEST IN TRAVEL 2024”
Valdichiana Senese has conquered another milestone. After the significant recognitions obtained over the years, such as the Eden award in 2020 and the declaration of European Community of Sport in 2021, with the publication of “Best in Travel 2024” guide by the renowned Australian publishing house Lonely Planet, this territory has achieved another award.
Tuscany is the only Italian destination mentioned in the guide, with the rationale being “Few places celebrate the slow life or embody the good life like Tuscany,” and within the pages concerning the Region, there is an in-depth exploration of Valdichiana Senese. Our territory is portrayed as an optimal destination for slow tourism, where Etruscan culture, history, gastronomy, nature, and thermal wellness blend perfectly.
“Opening ‘Best in Travel 2024,’ discovering Tuscany among the must-visit destinations for travelers, and then reading the extensive section dedicated to this territory fills us with pride,” declares Doriano Bui, President of the Strada del Vino Nobile di Montepulciano e dei Sapori della Valdichiana Senese. “It’s evidence showcasing the constant commitment exerted by the Strada and the tour operator Valdichiana Living for the promotion of this area in the south of the Province of Siena.” “If we’ve reached this point, it’s undoubtedly the result of the beauty of this land, but also of specific political choices regarding tourism promotion that have never ceased, allowing the growth of the ‘Senese Valdichiana’ brand,” says Michele Angiolini, Mayor of Montepulciano, the lead municipality of Valdichiana Senese. “A territory that offers so much to our visitors in terms of history and culture, thermalism and nature, but also in the gastronomic field. The products that have been brought for tasting are a valid example, albeit just a small representation of the many excellences that have been rediscovered and are now highly appreciated, such as the aglione of Valdichiana or the Mascina plum.” In Milan, after the presentation of the “Best in Travel 2024” guide, it took place a tasting with typical products of this territory, such as new extra virgin olive oil, Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG, and Chianina beef, thanks to the fruitful collaboration established with the Consortium for the Protection of White Veal IGP.
